Nightclub
Headliner or theme night. Retro hits at today's club tempo and sound. A crowd that knows every song, and a floor that does not empty.
Ivar Männik & Ain Boltovski
An exclusive new-style retro DJ show that brings 90s and retro dance hits to clubs and events in a contemporary remix form. The same songs you know, but as they were always meant to sound.
New-style retro
Yes, our music is rooted in the 90s. We play the same home-grown and international hits you once lost yourself dancing and partying to. But we do not play them as they once were.
Every track in a djX set is updated, reproduced and remixed just enough that the original essence, melody and identity remain, while the sound and power match today's club and festival stage.
The original essence of the track stays. When the chorus starts, the room knows it from the first bar.
Every track is reproduced and remixed: new sounds, new energy, the level of today's club and festival stage.
Respect for the original, and the courage to take it further. We do not play songs as they once were.
Music · remixes and new versions
These are the same songs you know. Each version has been reproduced in the djX studio so the sound and power match today's dancefloor.

Memory · expectation · sound
Retro works for a reason. We do not rely on luck or nostalgia. We rely on how music actually works in memory, in expectation, and in the room.
Based on well-known findings in music psychology and neuroscience (the reminiscence bump; musical expectation and reward) and thirty years of studio and stage experience.
In music psychology this is called the reminiscence bump: songs we heard as teenagers and in our early twenties bind to autobiographical memory more strongly than later ones. A 90s chorus is not merely familiar. It is personal.
The brain predicts the next bar of a familiar song. When the melody meets that expectation, but the sound surprises, the listener gets two things at once: the joy of recognition and freshness. That is the line djX remixes walk, never too far either way.
Club and festival PA systems, sub-bass and dynamics have changed in thirty years. djX versions are produced for today's room: the low end carries, the highs do not cut, the energy holds on a large stage.
Tempo, keys and the energy arc are thought through in advance. Each track continues the last. That is how the floor stays full even when the night is already long.
Live show
A DJ set of djX's home-grown and international retro hits works in a nightclub, at a festival, and at a special event.

Headliner or theme night. Retro hits at today's club tempo and sound. A crowd that knows every song, and a floor that does not empty.
A big stage, a big sound. djX stepped in front of an audience at Retrobest. In 2026 the set also rang out at Õllesummer. That energy cannot be kept for a single night.
Company party, anniversary, town event. Programme and set length to match your event: by agreement, not off a conveyor.

90s
Our story in nineties Estonian dance music began with songs many people still know, such as Estin's "Esimene lumi", Up'n Down's "Naeratus", Mr Happyman's "Las mina proovin siis ka", Black Velvet's "17" and Kuldne Trio's "Hopp, Johanna".
Studio
Over the years we have also written and produced music for Duubel+ and Marju Länik, and with friends came the youth anthem "Kooliaeg". Under our hands Mono Fans, 6 Pack and Click OK began: bands whose songs "Aeg nautida", "Juliette", "Nii las jääb", "Seest läeb hing", "Lase lõdvaks" and "Öö on kuum" are still remembered.
Air
Besides studio work we have been behind the DJ decks and on the radio, where over the years we also contributed as music and programme directors. Vikerraadio: djX 1994-2000
2025
We returned to active making and performing, and at Retrobest we stepped out of the studio in front of an audience under the name djX for the first time. For that, several new versions of 90s hits were finished. It quickly became clear that this energy could not be kept for a single night.
2026
Retrobest 2026 and Õllesummer 2026: djX is on stages again, not only in the studio. Next time: your event.
